About American Cake Decorating magazine

Whether you are an experienced sugar artist or just learning to decorate, American Cake Decorating is your source for techniques, tips, and news. Share the secrets of talented decorators from around the world, each presented through ACD's signature step-by-step instructions and full-color photos. Decorate faster, easier, and more beautifully with American Cake Decorating.

ACD was founded by Robert and Adlynn Harte in 1995. The couple published ACD until the July/August 2000 issue, when Robert Mead took over publishing along with Editor Amada Mattos. In 2001, current Editor in Chief Craig Gustafson joined the staff of ACD as editor. In 2002, the publication was then acquired by the current publisher, Grace McNamara, Inc.

Inside the very first issue of ACD, former Editor Adlynn Harte stated "American Cake Decorating Magazine will strive to bvring ideas, techniques, and general interest information to cake decorators throughout North America. As a full featured magazine, each issue of American Cake Decorating will contain several projects (often keyed to seasonal themes), skills, spedcial interest, and children's features, as well as product and book reviews, hints, news, and calendar listing. As we grow, there will be even more projects and features."

Today, ACD continues to fufill those goals set by the first editor. With more than 7 years of experience working with ACD, Editor in Chief Craig Gustafson maintains the look, content, and developent of both ACD and MBN magazines, the Web site, new projects, and our e-newsletter Monthly Slice. He is aided by Associate Editor Kimberly Anderson who joined the team in 2005. ACD is designed by Art Director Holly Forsberg and overseen by Creative Director Randy Palmer, and aided by Designer Amy Bjellos. Publisher Susan Griffith is the primary marketing and advertising head for ACD and has contributed to expanded circulation and exposure of the magazine.
