Cut two strips of fondant 6 inches long and form each into a bow loop. Allow the loops to dry before placing them on the cake. Forming the loops over a dowel rod will help achieve the correct form and facilitate the drying process. Cut two thinner strips of fondant, being sure to cut out a triangle from one end of each strip, to form bow tails. Gather the strips loosely, as a naturally lying ribbon would appear. Allow these to dry before placement on the cake. Cut a small piece of fondant to place between the two bow loops, on top of the stem, to complete the bow.
